Here’s what a professional soft wash house washing actually looks like in practice — based on a recent job we completed on a two-story home in Strongsville’s southwest neighborhoods.
The Situation
A Strongsville homeowner reached out in spring after noticing significant dark green and black streaking running down the vinyl siding on the north and west sides of their home. The home was built in 1998 with original vinyl siding and hadn’t been professionally cleaned in at least four years. Heavy tree coverage on the north side had created ideal conditions for algae and mildew to thrive through multiple growth seasons.
Our Soft Wash Approach
We pre-wet all foundation plantings and mulch beds before starting. Using our soft wash system at low pressure — roughly equivalent to a strong garden hose — we applied our professional cleaning solution to the worst-affected north and west elevations first, working top to bottom. The solution was allowed to dwell for several minutes to penetrate and kill the algae colony at the root. We then rinsed thoroughly from top to bottom, preventing streaking. The east and south elevations had lighter soiling and were completed in a single pass. Total time on site: approximately two and a half hours for the full house.
The Results
The north elevation went from visibly green-black to uniform clean white vinyl. The homeowner described it as looking like a brand-new house. We also addressed some oxidation on the south-facing soffit areas that had turned chalky — the cleaning solution lifted that oxidation and restored the original color significantly. No damage to plants, no water behind siding.
What This Costs
This Strongsville two-story home was priced at $285 — a fair price for a larger house with heavier-than-average algae buildup requiring extra dwell time and solution. Most Strongsville homes fall in the $175–$350 range.
