Hiring a professional pressure washing crew is the easy part. Getting your property ready beforehand takes about 15–20 minutes and makes a real difference in the quality of the results. Here’s exactly what to do before Mr. PowerWash arrives at your Cleveland-area home.
1. Move Cars and Outdoor Items Out of the Way
Clear your driveway of vehicles so the full surface can be cleaned. Move potted plants, outdoor furniture, kids’ toys, grills, and any decorative items away from the work area. This protects your belongings and gives the crew unobstructed access to every surface.
2. Close All Windows and Doors
Soft wash and pressure washing use significant water volume. Even though our crew is careful, close all windows, sliding doors, and any vents near the work area. If you have a basement egress window that might be at ground level, make sure it’s sealed.
3. Let Us Know About Any Sensitive Areas
If you have freshly painted surfaces, areas with known cracks or damage, or plants you’re especially protective of, mention these before we start. We’ll adjust our technique accordingly and give those areas extra attention during setup.
4. Turn Off Outdoor Electrical Outlets
Any exterior GFCI outlets, low-voltage landscape lighting wiring, or outdoor speaker systems near the work area should be turned off or covered. Your crew will work around these, but it’s good practice.
5. Make Sure Someone Is Home or Accessible
You don’t need to stand outside the whole time, but being reachable by phone is helpful in case we have questions about specific surfaces or areas. We’ll do a walkthrough with you after the job is complete to make sure you’re satisfied.
What You Don’t Need to Do
You don’t need to pre-rinse anything or do any cleaning beforehand — that’s our job. You also don’t need to buy any supplies or equipment. Just clear the area and we handle everything else.
